A podiatrist is a health care professional who mainly focuses on giving medical care to the foot and ankle. Podiatrists can diagnose, treat and prevent various foot conditions. They also diagnose and treat foot problems caused by underlying medical conditions such as diabetes. A podiatrist’s recommendations may include; orthotics (customized shoe inserts), specific physical exercises or medications to treat for example, specific skin conditions.

All podiatrists at Foot Clinic NI are Healthcare profession council registered and are trained to care for all members of the family from the very young to the very old.

Fiona has over 20 years experience and has been working in the NHs as an Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist in the Orthopaedic Service for ten years.

So far Fiona has carried out over 1,200 steroid injections injections.

Steroid injection is a very safe treatment. Like any medical treatment there may be side effects and these will be discussed in full at your initial consultation and prior to injection.

What other treaSteroid joint injections can reduce inflammation and ease pain in your joints. This allows you to move your joint more easily.

Steroid Injections- for the following problems
 Shoulder joint injection -
 Frozen shoulder
 OA shoulder
 Impingement pain/rotator cuff injury- painful arc
 Painful shoulder Fllowing a rotator cuff tear

 Acromioclavicular Joint

 Knee joint injection for Osteoarthritis- mild, moderate or severe. (while waiting for joint replacement).
 Lateral Hip Pain- Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome
 Elbow joint injection for OA- tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow.
 Wrist joint injections for OA.
 Steroid injections for trigger finger, thumb
 Steroid injection for OA at the base of the thumb
 Steroid injection for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
 Steroid injection for De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis
 Ankle joint.

There is a range of tablets available which may help your condition. Other treatments such as physiotherapy or podiatry may be of benefit.

Lynda graduated from the University of Ulster in 2008. Since then Lynda has worked both in the NHS and private practice. Lynda’s main interests are general podiatry, routine foot care, nail surgery and diabetes. Lynda is currently studying to advance her practice in biomechanics.

When not in work Lynda loves running with her local running club.

Mrs Claire Dobie
(She/Her/Hers) BMedSc(Hons) pod QUB HCPC, HCPC CH15158, CASE Accredited Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound Lower Limb

Claire Dobie, nee Rooney, is the clinic’s principal podiatrist. Claire graduated from Queens University Belfast, in 2001, with an Honors degree in Podiatric Medicine. In 2006, Claire was the first podiatrist in Northern Ireland to be appointed as an Advanced Practitioner, Extended Scope Podiatrist in an Orthopaedic Assessment and Treatment Service, in the NHS. In this role Claire could assess, diagnose and treat complex foot and ankle conditions, refer for diagnostic imaging, such as X-ray, MRI, CT, and ultrasound scans (if needed) and linked directly with orthopaedic consultants. In late 2018 Claire resigned from the NHS to gain a better work life balance. Claire is one of only 3 podiatrists on the island of Ireland, to have completed post graduate training in medical diagnostic ultrasound to become CASE Accredited in medical diagnostic ultrasound Imaging of the lower limb knee, foot and ankle. Claire specialises in MSK conditions, gait analysis, specialist orthotics and bracing such as the Richie Brace. Foot and ankle mobilisation, manipulation, acupuncture, taping and steroid injection, vaso-supplementation (Ostenil injections) shockwave therapy are all treatments that Claire can provide.

Claire has had work published in professional journals, has been locum clinical lecturer at the University of Ulster for podiatry and has been guest speaker at the annual NI podiatry conference. Claire continues to participate in CPD activities for her colleagues.

In her spare time Claire enjoys time with her young family, sailing, kayaking and has even finished a couple of triathlons.

Grace studied Podiatry at Glasgow Caledonian and graduated in 2018. Grace has experience in both the NHS and private sector.

Grace enjoys all aspects of general podiatry practice and is keen to persue her interst in MSK and sports Injuries.

David graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 1999. He has worked in both NHS and private practice and has a keen interest in Musculoskeletal and orthopaedic practice as well as routine podiatry.

He has worked within the NHS as a Podiatrist from 2001 to present including the Sports Medicine Department in Musgrave Park Hospital from 2001-2009 and Advanced Practitioner Podiatrist in the NHS Orthopaedic ICATS from 2014 to present.
